Program Highlights The program offers low-interest 30 and 40 year fixed-rate loans, down payment and closing costs assistance as well as access to credit counseling.
Teachers, firefighters, healthcare workers, police officers, as well as active duty and veteran military personnel could be eligible for lower interest rates.
Eligible applicants include individuals who:
- have never owned a home, (not owned your principal residence in the past 3 years)
- don't claim their mobile home as real property,
- haven't owned and occupied a home as their primary residence within the past three years,
- have established credit worthiness, and
- have an annual income that does not exceed program limits.

Requirements: Homebuyer Education
All borrowers using the Florida Housing First Time Homebuyer Program must take a homebuyer
education class and obtain a certificate. These classes will show you how to avoid costly
mistakes in the home buying process, such as how to work with a lender, how to use a Realtor, how much house you can afford and more. Contact your local community development department to find a local agency providing these classes or go to www.FloridaHousing .org and use the First Time Homebuyer wizard to find an agency in your area. MCC program: dollar for dollar credit vs. deduction of property taxes up to $2,000 limit for a maximum of 3 years. Income cannot exceed 115% of area median. Please consult with Lender for complete details

Florida Housing administers the State Housing Initiatives Partnership program (SHIP), which provides funds to local governments as an incentive to create partnerships that produce and preserve affordable homeownership and multifamily housing. The program was designed to serve very low, low and moderate income families. Depending on your income, you could be eligible for home repair or replacement, down payment assistance, rental housing assistance and other affordable housing assistance. To find out if you qualify, contact the local SHIP administrator in your county. |

What programs are available to assist first-time homebuyers? Florida Housing's First Time Homebuyer Program, located under the Homebuyers and Renters link, offers low interest rate mortgages as well as down payment assistance up to $10,000 to eligible first-time homebuyers.
