Anne Kolb Nature Center

West Lake Park, 751 Sheridan St., Hollywood; 954-926-2410. Boardwalk nature trails through West Lake mangrove ecosystem, nature exhibits, observation tower, 40-minute narrated boat tour exploring West Lake. Boat tour costs $8 per adult, $4 for kids 6-12, free for children 5 and younger; admission to nature exhibits $3 for adults, $1.50 for kids 7-12, free for children 6 and younger; no charge to use nature trails. Ah-tha-thi-ki Museum

Big Cypress reservation, 40 miles west of Fort Lauderdale; 954-792-0745. Dedicated to Seminole culture, features a 5,000-square-foot exhibit hall, a five-screen orientation theater and a mile-long boardwalk. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Art and Culture Center of Hollywood

Bergeron Rodeo Arena

Bonnet House

Buehler Planetarium

Family-oriented facility features a variety of programs, including laser shows, children's Saturday science workshops, astronomy shows for all ages and special engagement programs. Butterfly World

Visitors can walk among live butterflies in tropical rain forest setting; botanical garden, breeding laboratory, museum, cafe, gift shop, plant nursery. Open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday; admissions gate closes at 4 p.m. daily; $17.95 for adults, $12.95 for children age 4-12; free for kids 3 and younger.

Coconut Creek Seminole Bingo and Casino

5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek; 954-977-6700. High-stakes bingo, poker, slot machines, Open 24 hours.

Dania Beach Hurricane

The only roller coaster in South Florida and one of only three wooden ones in the entire state. The ride is 3,200 feet long and travels through dips, curves and a tunnel at 55 mph. Since the coaster is wooden, every sound is magnified, so that loud creaking can be heard as it makes its way up to the 100- foot drop at the beginning of the ride. And it has the signature"lift'' of wooden roller coasters, where the riders get temporarily lifted off their seats as they fly by.

It's at Boomers, 1760 NW First St. From Interstate 95, exit Stirling Road east, turn left at Bryan Road and left at Northwest First Street. Park and enter through Boomers. The admission price is $6.25. It's open 10 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Sunday, and 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 954-921-7433.

Davie Pro Rodeo

Deerfield Beach Arboretum

Everglades Holiday Park

Flamingo Gardens and Arboretum

Fort Lauderdale Historical Society Museum

Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop

Graves Museum of Archaeology and Natural History

International Game Fish Association World Fishing Center and Museum

300 Gulf Stream Way (west of Interstate 95, just south of Griffin Road next to Outdoor World), Dania Beach, 954-922-4212. This $32 million fishing center and museum, geared toward both anglers and nonanglers, is home to a 12,000-volume research library, World Fishing Hall of Fame, seven educational and entertaining galleries, marina and living wetlands; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily; $4.99 adults, $4.49 seniors, $3.99 for children 3-12, free for kids younger than 3.

International Swimming Hall of Fame and Museum

Sawgrass Recreation Area

US 27 two miles north of State Road 84 (Interstate 75), West Broward; 954-389-0202. Thirty-minute airboat tour, 30-minute tour of Indian village, 30 minutes at reptile area, $15 for adults, $7.15 for children 4-12; airboats run from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. daily; fishing boat rentals, $44 for four hours, $65 for seven hours; RV campsite rentals, $14 a night for electric and water hookups; park admission free.

Seminole Indian Bingo and Casino

Stranahan House

The 99-year-old home of pioneers Frank and Ivy Stranahan is Broward's oldest surviving structure; open for tours 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday; $5 for adults, $2 for children younger than 12.

Young at Art Children's Museum
